Wireless Tips and Troubleshooting

Wireless Tips

Make Sure You're in a Working PAWS Zone

You have to be in the right place in order to connect. Don't worry, PAWS access zones are located all around campus. We at Student Technology Support have created an updated wireless map for you to reference. The official map and list of access zones can be found on the PAWS website.

Try a Different Spot Within the Zone

Wireless access is limited in both range and how many people can be onine at one time. Even if you are in an area that should have a wireless signal, there may be too many other users in that area or you may be too far from the receiver. Especially in the SLC and the main floor of the Library, try moving to another area if you cannot connect.

Make Sure Your Computer is Correctly Configured

Your computer needs to be configured for DHCP or to obtain settings automatically. Instructions on configuring your wireless network card can be found below and on the PAWS website.

Accept the PAWS Security Certificate

When you open your web browser in a PAWS access zone, you will see a dialogue window open. The window will ask you if you want to accept a security certificate. Make sure click the yes button to accept the certificate and proceed to the MyID log in page.
